Websites like YouTube or MetaCafe are starting to shoot up all over. Some sites such as DailyMotion are basically dedicated to delivering copyrighted shows hours after they air. It's only about time that someone took advantage of the huge popularity for video sharing websites, and made it into a CMS. Now everyone and their mother can copy YouTube!

Video Share is a YouTube like CMS. This one however isn't open source it costs $300 dollars per year. For $300 dollars you do at least get the source code. It's coded in PHP using a MySql database, so the needed things to run it are in fact open source. It was made for a UNIX/Linux environment only. The software comes with a built in flash player which will convert videos as the user is uploading them. It has a comment section, and like YouTube you can rate videos. Video Share appears to use a bit of Ajax for the rating process. It seems to offer a lot of features including customizing the flash player via admin interface. The default theme is user friendly and similar to the YouTube interface. It has a feature unique to itself, and that is the ability to bill users for use. Of course this can be turned off and used as a free website as well.

The administrative panel looks decent, and highly configurable. You can change advertisements, limit bandwidth to certain users, edit all videos as well as censor some, add polls etc.

The project was released August 10th, 2006 so it's fairly seasoned code. For $300 dollars you get one year worth of updates for free, but you can use it forever.

All users have RSS feeds to their recently submitted videos, which can come in handy to track certain users. You can sort videos by category, time submitted, most views and a wide variety of other options. Users have the ability to flag videos as inappropriate, as well as add them to their favorites.

All and all it has a lot of the same features of YouTube, and other clones. It's a pretty cheap price for all the work they've done, and it seems to be running quite efficiently. If you're looking to clone YouTube this is definitely for you; if you want something unique, you'd better hire someone.

      Hey guys,
I have an iMac G5 running tiger 10.4.7 and I an having a wierd problem. Whenever I go to a site that has an embedded youtube, flash or some kind of video, there is no sound. If it a quicktime file there is no problem. There is not sound no matter what broswer I use, firefox, camino, safari, or shiira. And keep in mind that about a week ago I was not having this issue.

You will most likely need a dedicated server, or a VPS. The package requires some things that you’ll need to be root (admin) to install. Any VPS or dedicated server will work.

Many YouTube clone sites are coming up as Google brought YouTube. Check domainstob...sting.html for YouTube clone hosting.

      Hi,
We can even go one step further and create a clone of YouTube. All the scripts for that are easily findable on the internet. But doing the same thing as YouTube is not a solution to success. There is only one way for me. Do not try to do what has already been done by those better money-backed players. Find a niche! Targeting a niche, whether it is about a special subject or a community, is the key of success. This is already too hard to find videos about something that interest us within the millions hosted by YouTube. By focussing on a specific content, you will create a community of users of your own, with a place they will gladly share around them as it will rapidly be theirs.
So what niche to choose? I have compiled a list of already 400 of YouTube-like sites with their niche on ilikeshari...-sites/en/
If you’re interested in video sharing, you should give it an eye.
      Cheers
