Fix For Zune On Vista

Posted by Alex Bailey On November - 15 - 2006

With all the rush of releasing new products, Microsoft forgot to make the Zune’s software work on Vista. According to the official Zune website, it’s only supported for Windows XP. Even though Vista is not officially released yet, the new operating system is in the RTM stage. It will be released to businesses in just a couple of weeks, and I don’t think it’s likely the Zune will be ready in time. Windows Vista is not supported at this time. Check back soon for updates. However... (more...)

Orca, The All Ajax Forum

Posted by Alex Bailey On November - 15 - 2006

With all the hype of Ajax, and its use on blogs and social news websites, it was only a matter of time before it was used on forums. Orca interactive forum script is an all Ajax forum. Navigating, posting, register, logging in are all done via Ajax. This however does make the load time considerably less than most websites. By now you’re probably asking how much it costs; well the answer is GPL. Yup it’s free and open source. They claim it can easily be integrated with most forum... (more...)

Microsoft Makes Secret Deal

Posted by Alex Bailey On November - 13 - 2006

The domain Aggreg8.net which was a former RSS reader seems to have been bought out by Microsoft for $5,000 dollars. The company has now changed its domain to aggreg8.co.uk. The Microsoft version of this site appears to be a social networking site for computer geeks. Ironically upon clicking on the highest rated groups section, a group called “Linux Group” is number one. The site in general is lacking a lot of features, and doesn’t appear to be completed ““ or anywhere... (more...)

ArtRage: The Realistic Paint Utility

Posted by Alex Bailey On November - 12 - 2006

Are you an artist, and a computer geek? Well you’re in luck. ArtRage is a program to simulate real art tools. The faster you move the brush, the faster it runs out of. Releasing the mouse button virtually dips the brush back in the paint. It has different canvases which have different textures, to make it as realistic as possible. There is a palette knife, chalk, air brush, oil paint, felt pens and more. You can select how hard you press against the canvas as well as the angle of... (more...)

Flash Based Homepage

Posted by Alex Bailey On November - 11 - 2006

Yourminis is a flash based homepage, dedicated to bringing your favorite content to one sleek homepage. Launched in October 2006 and owned by California based Goowy, Yourminis is set to compete with some top sites such as Netvibes. Yourmini’s approach is somewhat different because of its use of Flash instead of Ajax. Upon loading its competitors which are primarily made in Ajax, they’re fairly slow; a hard refresh takes about five seconds. Yourminis is considerably less weighing... (more...)
