Some Changes + Server Statistics

Over the past few months I’ve been using HostMonster hosting. Their customer support is great, and so is their service. However, I’ve decided to move on to a dedicated server to improve website performance. Using a dedicated server I can customize any part of this blog I want. So just what is under the hood of CyberKnowledge?

Operating System: Cent OS 4.4
Database: MySql 5.0.22
PHP: 5.1.6
WebServer: Lighttpd with FastCGI
PHP Cache: XCache which has cached 10 megabytes of PHP code
Blog Cache: WP-Cache 2.0
CMS: WordPress 2.0.6
SMTP: Sendmail 8.13.1-3

The server I’m running on is weak, but it’s really all I can afford. The stats are:

AMD XP 2000
512 Megabytes of RAM
120 7200 RPM Hard Drive
100 Mbit/s Nic Card, and line

Recently I held a competition for a free blue tooth head set. I had people suggest changes for my site, and the majority were as follows:

Print friendly format
Email this article feature
Better banner
Fix the bouncing up and down images on the right side bar
Fix the encoding issues
Spell and grammar check
Darker theme colors
Set post schedule
Make the title stand out
Remove related posts on the main page
Remove ugly star in top right corner
Highlight key parts of the post
Make images scale to browser on posts

Here is a list of the features out of that list I have implemented so far:

Spelling/Grammar - I’ve always done this, but now I double check everything just to be sure. Please contact me if you see mistakes.

New banner
Make images scale to browser

Here are the things I won’t do:

Post schedule - I post usually around once a day, sometimes twice. Sometimes there is nothing I wish to discuss others there is a lot. Sorry.
New theme - Spent a lot of time on this one
Highlight keywords
Darker theme - I have no plans of doing this, however if someone cares to make the CSS for it, I will be glad to upload it.
