Firefox Extension: Splash Screen With Load Bar

We'll file this under useless yet cool. It's a Firefox extension that gives a loading splash image when loading Firefox. Normally there is a slight delay before Firefox opens, and nothing is there while that happens. This plugin instantly opens Firefox with a fake load bar splash screen. More eye candy then anything, but I'll keep it installed.

This plugin isn't just for Firefox either, it works on versions of Sunbird, and Thunderbird.

Firefox 1.5 - 3.0a2 - ALL
Sunbird 0.3a1 - 0.4a1 - ALL
Thunderbird 1.5 - 3.0a1 - ALL

For such a small plugin there is a decent amount of configuration options. You can basically change all aspects of it including text, sound, color, and image.

While this plugin works on all platforms there appears to be a slight glitch with setting options in OS X. From the comments on the plugins page:

Good idea, but I had big problems with this extension when I wanted to change its preferences. Just flashing area appeared on my screen and nothing other happened. I had to quit Thunderbird and Firefox and uninstall Splash. It's pity! I want it also for Mac OS X. ;-)

I can't confirm this as I still use Windows. Waiting a few more months before I purchase my Macbook Pro ;).
