Browse Web And Desktop Widgets With Widgipedia

If you’re a a widget addict, searching to find the latest and greatest widgets, check out Widgipedia. When I say widgets, I mean all types. They have desktop, widgets for Mac, and Windows users, and web widgets for bloggers, myspacers, and everything in between. Their site itself is very easy to use, with a sleek interface, and nice use of Ajax. A lot of these widgets are completely standalone, which means they won’t require another program to run the widget. You can even use their standalone tag which will list all widgets for Windows, and require no widget program to be installed.

For testing, I downloaded one of their most popular widgets. It’s a small application called Easy WiFi Radar. It idles on your desktop, searching for wireless signals to connect to. Once it finds one, it’ll display your local IP when you’ve successfully connected.

The green dot is the available access point. If I had more in my basement, there would be more dots. They’d also be colored coded (green means it’s a good signal, while red means it’s weak).

If you’re overwhelmed by the selection, start with the highest rated, or the top downloaded widgets. Browsing though those reveals an abundance of potential keepers. I’ll definitely be looking at them a bit later.
