“TestTube“, as Google is calling its new feature of Youtube, is a public beta test area in which users can test some of their new concoctions. The first thing that caught my eye is AudioSwap. It allows you to take your existing Youtube videos, and overwrite the current audio with a song. The songs are licensed by the original artist, and hosted on Youtube with permission. Currently the selection of music is extremely limited, but I managed to find at least one good band. Unlike most Youtube videos, the sound that they’re allowing you to stream is superb. With a free youtube converter such as Vixy, I smell free music.

The next upcoming(?) feature is Streams. It’s a chat room where users can talk and share video in real time. Some are pretty neat, and are only showing music videos. There are other categories, such as funny videos as well. Nothing really that exciting here. Judging by the average Youtube comments, these chat rooms will turn in to a AOL like free for all in no time.

Well, it’s been a while. I’ve been busy with a few new sites I’ve obtained. Along with the new websites, I bought a new server. The stats are as follows:
Pentium D Dual Core 3.0 Ghz
1 Gig ram
160 Gig Sata 7200 RPM
10 Mbit port
The new site I’ve been coding is a lyrics website. This has been what has been taking all of my time. The script I made for it is pretty elite. It uses an Amazon.com API to gather album art, and some information about the product. It was a good coding experience because I’ve never dealt with such massive databases. I found myself adding some things on a cron job, because it’s hard to work with such a large database in real time. I think the total size is like 600 mega bytes, with one table having around 430k rows.

The next website I actually bought. It’s a text based RPG. I bought the game in really bad condition, and had to fix up most of the code. It was down for a few months prior, and I bought it as a project. It’s fast now that I fixed it though, give it a try :). You will however need to register, which is a fast process.

Another site that I’ve always had is QuickRSS. It’s an open source RSS reader that I coded a while back. I still use it to collect my news, despite how armatureish it is :).
