Some Changes
March 13th, 2007 - By: Alex BaileyWell, it's been a while. I've been busy with a few new sites I've obtained. Along with the new websites, I bought a new server. The stats are as follows:
Pentium D Dual Core 3.0 Ghz
1 Gig ram
160 Gig Sata 7200 RPM
10 Mbit port
The new site I've been coding is a lyrics website. This has been what has been taking all of my time. The script I made for it is pretty elite. It uses an Amazon.com API to gather album art, and some information about the product. It was a good coding experience because I've never dealt with such massive databases. I found myself adding some things on a cron job, because it's hard to work with such a large database in real time. I think the total size is like 600 mega bytes, with one table having around 430k rows.

The next website I actually bought. It's a text based RPG. I bought the game in really bad condition, and had to fix up most of the code. It was down for a few months prior, and I bought it as a project. It's fast now that I fixed it though, give it a try :). You will however need to register, which is a fast process.

Another site that I've always had is QuickRSS. It's an open source RSS reader that I coded a while back. I still use it to collect my news, despite how armatureish it is :).
