Free Android applications killing battery

A new study released by Microsoft has some pretty bold claims: up to 75% of your Android’s battery life is being consumed by free ad based applications. Everyday apps such as Chess and Angry Birds are responsible for a huge drop in battery life because of location based advertisements. Buying a tablet or eReader?

A few months ago I decided to buy a tablet so I could take advantage of eBooks. There were a number of reasons I went with a tablet over an e-reader like the Kindle or Nook. Like I blogged about a couple weeks ago, I have found quite a few uses for the tablet that the Kindle couldn’t accomplish. One major reason I purchased a tablet instead of a kindle is you have to buy books through amazon. Granted you can use a kindle coupon before ordering an eBook and get a cheaper price. Windows Vista Beta 2 released in February of 2006, was the first build of Vista for the general public. However, with the ample time Apple had to develop a working iTunes product for Vista’s RTM build, they failed. Instead of coming up with solutions to the multiple Vista/iTunes compatibility issues, they’ve developed software to change your PC to have the proper settings. Say hasta la Vista to control alt delete in Windows Vista. If you’re familiar with those legendary keys bringing up the Task Manager, get ready for a change. Vista’s control alt delete now brings up a full screen menu. Your options?
