Skype Landline Prices $15 A Year + Skype 3.0 Released
Since free long distance in May, Skype has gained millions of new users. The said plan will end at the end of December, bringing the free ride to an end. All hope is not lost however; they're offering an extremely low rate. $15 a year low that is. If you think about it, this is very smart business. They've gotten millions of users hooked on free phone calls for a half month, and are now charging a very affordable rate for the service. Normally I wouldn't buy a subscription to anything, but you absolutely can't beat $15 a year. Bundled with the subscription, you'll also get $50 of discounts off Skype hardware and 100 minutes of Skype-Out minutes. The deal lasting for one month will end January 31st.
The other piece of news coming from Skype is the release of their new Client "Skype 3.0". The new features include public chats, and games between friends. Hopefully these chats don't turn into AOL like chats, or similar. Keeping bots out of them will be an essential. So far it's only been released for Windows, and not Linux or Mac OS.
