According to a forum post, Bitorrent Inc has decided to purchase uTorrent for an undisclosed amount. They say this won’t mean anything for its users just yet. Their goal is to maintain the website, forums, and users just how they are. However in the long run they will continue to add new features to the client. I personally don’t think this is a good thing. uTorrent is small, fast, and reliable. It has everything it needs. I wouldn’t like to see a bunch of un-needed “features” added, and other bulky addons. The only good thing that could come from this deal is native installs on Mac Os, and Linux.
Alternative torrent clients:
- BitComet – Good, and fast with lots of config options.
- Azureus – A bit slow because it’s java.
- BitTornado – Basic client, Windows only.
