Zelda Twilight Princess Tips And Suggestions
As cool as Zelda is, the beginning is rather challenging and boring. After about an hour of figuring things out you finally get to start stabbing monsters and meet Zelda. Since I don't have a strategy guide, it took me longer to get to the fun part. One of "quests" in the beginning required you to fish for food for a cat, but before that you needed a rod. Before you could get the rod you needed to find a baby's basket. In that same area you also needed to stop a bull, and take down a bee hive. At first glance it seems quite pointless, but all of these obstacles required you to learn how to navigate Zelda via jumping, swimming, running, and shooting. One of the things I found most difficult was catching a fish. It turns out that the Zelda creators never really went fishing. In the game as soon as your bobber goes down, you need to immediately jerk the rod up until it says you've got a fish on. After that you have to continue holding it in the air until it says you caught it. It seems more realistic if you'd have a slower jerk, because in real life that could rip the fish's mouth, thus causing you to lose the fish. Also you should catch the fish next to the cat, because it will immediately eat it. To get the rod you need to climb up to the man on that grass mound. You then hop to the other mound, and then on to the roof of the house. From there jump on the last possible pillar, where there will be grass to call the hawk. Call the hawk and point him towards the monkey holding on to the basket which is facing the side of the pillar with the grass that you call the hawk with. It will steal the basket from the monkey and give it to you. All you have to do then is give it to the lady. To break the bees nest just call the hawk, and point it at it. You call the hawk from the first pillar, after the one with the man on it. Later in the game you'll be stuck in a jail cell as a wolf. To get out you need to break the thing in the front right corner of the cell. To do this flick the Wiimote forward which causes the wolf to dash at it. After that you'll need to dig yourself out. The moves that the wolf can use, are very similar to the moves that Link can do with his sword. From there on out it's pretty self explanatory, and very fun. You need to get a special item first. You need to save the 3 monkeys to get it.

There is a platform in the room with the plants. You have to get up there, and destroy a rock. There are vines that allow you to get up there. This will lead you to the third monkey.

Hey i blew up one of the plant creatures in one of the rooms. but for some reason i can’t blow up the other. The bomb creature keeps blowing up before it gets to the plant and so i cant go on. Is there a certain way u have to throw it or run to blow up that second plant?

The sword is in his house. Switch to spirit mode or whatever, and go to the side of his house. There will be a place to dig under it. You’ll see sparkles in the area to dig under.

Sorry I forgot, there is 4 monkeys. Then you need to go to the broken bridge which was broken by the huge monkey, a while ago. Kill him to get the boomerang.

Yea that got me stuck for a bit too. There is another exploding plant higher up (where you saved one of the monkeys). Keep climbing a little higher. You need that chest too, cause there is part of a heart in it.

To get the fourth monkey, I’ll assume which one you missed. In the room where you have to throw bombs in those mushroom things, there is a boulder in front of a door. It’s right by the first mushroom you had to blow up. You need to throw a bomb at that boulder. It takes a couple tries, but it’s easy. Once in that room roll into one of the pillars to get the chest which has the key in it. Swim across the river, and avoide the floor tiles that jump or w/e. Light the two torches with your lantern, and then get all four and go to the broken bridge ;)

Go back to the center room, and choose the room with the water. Hop accross those pillars, and go straight into the text room. I forget exactly how to get accross there, but it’s fairless obvious. Something with the boomerang I think. You need to throw it at the posts ont he bridge to make it turn.

I have just entered Faron Woods trying to find the temple, and I have just learned my first defense skill from the Golden Wolf, however now I am stuck. I am only able to go as far as the end, where the giant spider web is, or to the lake with the purple fog and water. Please help!

OK, now I know I need my lantern to get rid of the cobweb, but my lantern is gone. I refilled it at Trills, but it is nowhere to be found. Am I stuck forever? I have been over every inch from the cobweb to the lake with the purple fog, but no lantern. Ugh!

Ok-I hate to be a complete moron but…….I’ve returned as the wolf ( yes, like the blonde that I am, I’m stuck at the beginning….)
and I have to sneak into the water wheel house to retrieve the sword, then the shield. I HAVE managed to achieve having the stuffing beaten out of me by a hawk though. That imp won’t help me jump, just very unhelpfully keeps telling me to just “sneak in”. I’m at a complete loss as to how to actually get IN the water wheel house, or on it-please help!

Go to the right side of the pillar the owl is on. Like a little further on the map. Around there the spirit will teleport you onto the roof or something. That’s waaaay back, but I think that’s how you do it.

i am in the first temple and i saved all the monkeys and they made a big chain for me to swing across and open the big lock… but i don’t have the key, i think it is behind the gate that you open with the boomerang winds… however i tried every combination of blowing wind on the pillars to open the gate and it won’t go… please help

Yup, you’re correct. If you look on the floor in that area there is a Z on the floor. The light makes the pattern. You can hold down the boomerang button and then click “b” (I think. It’s the button on the nunchuk.) to target each of the pillars in their order. Then just let go of Z, and it’ll hit all four pillars.

When you get to the boss it’s pretty easy to beat. Pretty disappointing ;). When his head goes down you’ll need to chop off the thing that falls on the ground. (You’ll need to do it twice.)

you need to go back to ordon and get the iron boots from the mayor, you’ll get them when you beat him in sumo wrestling… then go back to the gorons and where them and they can’t push you around…. however onto my question: IN THE GORON’S CAVE/MINE THERE IS THE SLIDING DOOR THING YOU OPEN BY PULLING THE CHAIN, BUT HOW DO YOU KEEP IT OPEN LONG ENOUGH TO GET THROUGH IT? Im at the second time you have to collect light teardrops (as a wolf) I’ve gotten all the bugs except for 3 spots on my map that appear to be inside 3 buildings… (one of the i think is a bomb shop the other appears to be as shed?) There is a lso a platform-looking thing on top of the one building…..is there a way into these buildings/onto the platform and if so how?

Use the boomerang to throw the bomb as well as pick it up.

Only one is in a building (or two but same house) you just have to look carefully around hte map, don’t know what else to tell you. Go over everywhere in spirit mode.

Stand on the ledge, throw it at the plant, and then throw it by hand at the rock. There is _plenty_ of time if you stand on the ledge.

hey man,
i am having a really hard time with this part. I’m on the part where you have to collect the light from the bugs in lake hylia. Its the third time you have to “free a place from twilight”. well to get the last thing of light you have to defeat this giant flying bug in the middle of the lake. I keep on attacking him over and over then he lands in the water and keeps going. I must have been there for edleast an hour trying to beat this guy. please help me out.

you are supposed to go to the house where the cat lives and then you will be able to jump up onto the house behind the hawk. once you get up there you will see how to travel across to the same area as the hawk and then he will fly away and scare the guy away. then the girl will help oyu jump into the house from the water wheel

I just killed the plant that guards the key to the THIRD monkey’s cell. What is left of the plant (the throbbing plant mouth…thing) still has the key inside. My question is, HOW DO I GET THIS KEY? How do I get it out of the plant? I tried Z and attacking, what is wrong?

you need first to hit the head then you have to find a bomb bug and throw it into the plant.

You have to jump on top of the store shop building with Midna’s help and jump from the building to those platforms and sneak up behind the guy that way.

First, you have to go to the back of the house near the gate to your house. Then, midna will laugh so you have to press up. She will fly to the top of the house and you have to jump to her. then you can jump across the islands to his island and he will fall off. Then you canget the shield because the hawk will stop attacking you.

use the same move you use to attack the big black monsters to open up the portals. where you attack them all at once using the chick on your head. sorry I don’t know the names of everything. i hope that helps

When it says fish on, you have to pull the remote up and hold it there. then it says that you caught a fish and says press A to let it go. Don’t press A. Press B and it will drop the fish on the ground. Then the cat will run to get it and you can follow it to the shop.

hi to destroy the plants that spit you out you throw the other plant that explodes in it’s mouth. first you have to attack the plant and than pick it up and use as a bomb.
you can also use to blow up a blocked doorway. to save more monkies

are you using the right spider bomb, collect the Bomb, run across the platform, jump the gap, then toss the Bomb at the boulder. Pass through the revealed door.

if u dont know how to get on the house all you have to do is find the wheelbarrow and jump in that…then you can get on it…note thats not the only way up so dont worry if u cant get that to work

I’m trying to get into the goron mines, a big rock or something fell into the middle of the area and is lodged in the ground. When I climb up a rope ladder into a cave there is a large rock or something blocking the entrance. How do I move the rock. I also noticed some hawkgrass what is the connection? Please help

You have to smack a goron once with your sword. it will get into a ball..that is when you quickly get onto it’s back and then it will shoot you up to the next level. There is going to be a ledge where the steam won’t let you pass…use your shield facing the steam and move into the steam once it hits you roll to the left quickly.

there are quite a few more monkeys that you need to find. as long as you have the boomerang though you might as well get the dungeon key. it’s behind the gate with the 4 windmills in front. you will need to throw the boomerang by targeting the windmills with Z in a certain order. have fun trying to find the right combination :)

once you reach the purple fog….go all the way to the left til you reach the rock wall. there is a spot where Midna can get you across.

Yes that is in death mountain. You just need to time it right. You can watch the fire geysers through the screen you are pulling the wall back. They all go up and down in sync so once you see them start to go down…let go of the chain and run/jump like crazy through the open doorway.

Did you ever cross the fog with the little girl monkey? The little girl monkey drops your lantern after you get to the clearing. If you rush past her though before she gets to the clearing it is quite possible to leave her behind with your lantern.

you have to target each mill in a certain combination with the boomerang. just go through the different combos til you find the right one.

So I’ve read through everyones comments, and I can’t find a solution to my problem. Being a total ditz at video games, I’m stuck on getting the fourth monkey. I’ve lit the two lanterns, and i can see him just through the bars! But the ‘check’ option never shows up. I’ve searched high and low for the stupid key that i’m obvisouly missing, but I can’t find it. Am I doing something wrong?

Is he in a cage? If so swing the sword at the cage. If he’s on top of a poll, roll into the poll to knock the cage over. If the cage is suspended from a spider web, use the boomerang to knock it down. If none of those, be a bit more specific or take a picture :). You seem to be around this area.

I’m pretty early in the game… and I have not seen anyone else ask about this so I’m guessing I’m just terrible… I just got out of the caves and I’m at the forest where you need a key to open the gate… I’m guessing the key is across those 2 pillars… my problem is I jump to the first… and make it there maybe 1 out of every 5 times I try… but then when I line up to jump to the second pillar I run and jump but he always seems to overjump it and fall back down to ground level. I’ve tried to do it softer but then he does the fall off and grab onto the ledge thing.
Any suggestions?

okay, I have just defeated the 2nd dungeon and I’ve crossed the bridge, which is then blown up in the middle, and then beat the three uh… tentacle screaming monsters, opening a portal that I can’t access and I’m trapped in this space by darkness. Now I can’t figure out what the heck to do, I’ve been wandering around the area for hours on horseback and off, shot all my arrows at what seemed to be glowing things on the side of the mountain and tried to bomb some suspcious rocks. Nothing! Any advice on advancing would be appreciated!

the glowing thing on the wall is a golden bug. you can use your boomerang to retrieve it. there is an area to the back of that map where you can bomb the pathway open. it should be a set of 4 rocks i believe.

He’s in a cage… The cage is inside of a room where you have to light the two lantern, and then in result, two ramps rise from the ground. A spider is guarding his cage, and he has chains and locks around the door of the cage. :( haha am I making any sense?

I finished the Forest temple a long time ago. But, you somehow need to get yourself to the room where the big white monkey is who sliced the bridge down with the boomerang. What’s you defeat him. You’ll get the boomerang from him.

im in kakariko village and i cant get two of the light bugs. i think they are in the buildings left of the general store(across the street from the bomb factory) i cant figure out how to get to them? It’s in a specific order: you see the Z of the ground? Start from one end or the Z to the other.

Catch another fish. It will go into a mini movie think.. The cat will grab the fish and then run inside the house. When that is done, go into the house and the lady will thank you for bringing back her cat, or something

Hi there! I’m really frustrated :( I’m at home sick, and I really want to get past this part I’m stuck at so I can get on with the game.
I just got all the tears in Kakariko, and now I need to go back to Ordon to talk to Bo. HOWEVER, like a dummy I somehow managed to get killed on Hyrule field on the way to Ordon (I know…seems hard to die there but I did.)
Now I’m still trying to get back to Ordon but when I started back after dying I have no Epona. The biggest problem, is I can’t figure out how to get back to Ordon to talk to Bo! I’ve skirted the entire Hyrule field and every viable path is blocked by large boulders. How to I get to Bo in Ordon??

Help me! I’m in the Goron mines trying to pull that darn chain to open the door and I can’t get past the wall fast enough. Is there a way to make Link move faster before the wall closes up? I can’t seem to squeeze through that narrow space fast enough. I’ve tried everything and I’m totally stuck. Plus, I really don’t want to go back to the entrance of Goron mines since it takes me forever to jump from stone to stone without getting swallowed up in the lava. Anyone have any suggestions?

okay now im Stuck in the gorgon mine with the iron boots and im in one of the rooms that has water in it, i swam into the water and dove down through this cage. magnetized to the ceiling then activated another magnetic patch that went across the room. I used my boots to get over there and now im on this one platfor nearby a door with a gate across it, i have the small key but it doesnt open the door. there’s another door on top of it that i think i need to go through but i cant get to it. please help! thanks.

Wii ZELDA: Lake Hylia stuck collecting bug tears of light?
I left Lake Hylia via the shadow bird before I killed the bugs and collected the tears there. Now I cannot get back to the lake to kill them and collect the tears of light. How do get back?
I have killed the bugs in both the cave at Zora’s Domain and also the bugs in Castle Town (I killed the bug by the bar before the tear collecting quest started which is why the portal to Lake Hylia didn’t open).
I have tried:
* jumping off the bridge (couldn’t do it)
* using reed to howl (nothing happened)
* going back to bar and talking to Midna to see if that would trigger portal opening
* tried every passage back to the lake
* looked at tons of walkthroughs (which aren’t applicable as they either collect the bugs from Lake Hylia first or go via the portal which hasn’t opened yet for me)
Please help! I notice that I am not the first with this problem but cannot find a way to solve it. I only have one game save so cannot reload an earlier save.

Alright, I think a couple people have had this problem, at the point where you follow the monkey while its holding your lantern all the way through the mist, then the monkey drops it at the end, it said i picked it up, so i continued into the next room and then i refilled my bottle with oil and when i got up to the big web to enter the first temple, it said i didnt have my lantern, anything i can do, or do i need to restart the whole fuckin game

wait… you mean the huge chest with the four little windmills? theres a way to lock onto things with the boomarang. but first of all, you hafta hit the windmills in the right order. since there is a path going in the shape of a Z, go in that order. so aim the boomarang at the first windmill and lock onto it. but dont let it go. then lock onto the other 3 windmills.

well that makes no sense. you should be able to catch another fish easily. the second time you catch a fish, it’ll say “let’s let this one go” but the cat steals it and runs away (which is what you want)

You have to smack a goron once with your sword. it will get into a ball..that is when you quickly get onto it’s back and then it will shoot you up to the next level. There is going to be a ledge where the steam won’t let you pass…use your shield facing the steam and move into the steam once it hits you roll to the left quickly.[/quote]
You can also wear the metal boots to pass,you will become really heavy so the steam won’t push you off!

I’m stuck towards the end of the game. I am collecting the vessels of light for the last light spirit. When I got to collect the last light- the bug is huge. I got the bug into the water and attacked it’s legs. Midna said to push the bug, but you can’t push it and hitting the legs doesn’t seem to help. Please help. I’m stuck and I’m sooo close to the end.

The bug electrifies and then comes towards you. Move back a little ways, the bug will stop low to the ground and you can attack it. Keeping hitting the A button. You will do this 3 times. After the 3rd time the bug will be upside down floating in the water. Climb on top of the bug and create a force field with B. This will attack all the legs on the bug. Then the bug will die and you will get the light.

You need to warp to the North woods (I don’t remember the exact name of the woods). It should be practically in front of you. Talk to Midna. She will warp you and the bridge back to where you started. You’ll then be able to cross.

I got stuck at this part too. It sucks. It’s OK to let the wagon burn a little bit, just as long as it doesn’t burn all the way. Try to ignore the bad guys on boars if you can. If the bird is close enough you can target it with Z, otherwise you need to aim. Also when you’re riding, keep in mind even if you target if you aren’t facing the right direction on your horse you still won’t hit it. Also, keep your bow and boomerang within close reach on the controls so you can switch. And just so you know, you need to hit two birds that drop bombs and unlock the gate when you get to the other side of hyrule field. This level sucks, hope it doesn’t take you as long as it did me.

to defeat the giant bug you have to make it fall into the water then jump on its stomach and use the wolf’s multiple attack where it sends out a circle around you. it will lock on to all the legs and attack them all at once.

If someone is still trying to get into the house there is a path that leads to the roof, you have to dash and the wolf will jump onto the roof.

I was stuck on this one forever to. first when you kill enough birds the horse SHOULD start riding on the bridge. when the hoarse is coming close to it take the shortcut(witch is right beside it Duh! lol)ride in front and stop were (well close)to were the bird drops the bomb take out your bow and shoot it this way your not moving the cart should be fine for a few seconnds and the bird will be dead after that its just a trail with a gate pretty much after that its pretty easy wellkind of it took me a day to beat a boss and now its confusing because im stuck a beast oh and also midna,she almost dies. lol no joke! she goes black and pink.

This is for queen….as you know the more black monsters the more there perimiter becomes a maze just kill one of them at first then go after the other two and get them close together then hold dowen in the triger boton NOT Z the other triger boton..
K now i just got throught doing that but not in the way wanted i jsut got through freeing the water people with the gient rock. i needed to get all the bugs but in sted of going the way i was soposed to go i tellaported to the water poeole’s domane i got a fuw of them but know i cant get back dowen to the lake i cant telaport there and i cant find the redgrass to call the big bird can any one help me !!!!

im at the part where you fight a big spider, theres stairs you go up and you find yourself on a little stone island in the middle of a room with 3 other islands there, theres one with cob webs…. there wooden doors, where the stairs lead to above there are glass bottles atactched to strings and a chest, i have no idea what to do here iv been trying for ages….. has anyone got any idea what im saying??

This is the first bit I have got stuck on and its so bloody simple looking but just cannot go further.
I am the wolf and have come to the end cobweb at the faron temple. i have the lantern and obviously would be able to use it if i had some bloody hands and not paws. All’Midna’ keeps saying is ‘bet that spirit has some good news’.
Which damn spirit is that? have searched everywhere around the purple fog for anything i have missed and really hate to give in but just would love some help….Anyone.?!!

I am trying to find the Hidden Village that Ilia mentioned however the Bridge to Eldin (north of Hyrule field) is missing and I can’t find it anywhere. I also do not have a warp point to the Eldin Bridge.

Ok well im stuck and I’m getting pretty frustrated, I’m suppost to be going to Snowy Peak, and I have the Sketch from Ashei of the person holding a fish, I know that I have to get a fur coat to go through the mountain pass but for what ever reason the person who is suppost to catch the fish for me isn’t around. My Question is who do I have to talk to and show the sketch to has the mountain beast attack me?

Firstly, you don’t need to get a fur coat, you just need to switch to wolf form to be able to walk through the snow. If you show the sketch to the zora prince in kakariko graveyard he’ll give you a hook so that you can catch a reekfish. You need to catch it near the waterfall in zoras domain (over to the left where the rocks are sticking up). When you have the reekfish, switch to wolf form and learn the scent. You then follow the scent up the mountain. The mountain beast is friendly, when you find him he will take you to his mansion.

I have found three monkeys and I need to get the fourth one behind the boulder but I can not blow it up. I do not have any bombs and the bomb plants explose before i can reach the boulder :s Can someone help????

Have you got the boomerang? Try targeting on the bomb with it then on the boulder to blow it up.

I’m stuck at forest temple. I found all the monkeys, and i tried getting to the boss, i also found the boss key where you use the boomerang in a Z line. but now i don’t have it anymore. it seems like i’ve LOST it??? Some one PLEASE help!!

I have 3 monkeys in tha forest temple, i can see a 4th one in that room with the monsters under the tiles wit water around, i can c a chest on top of a tree top but how do i get it n the monkey…. oh n there is a chest in the entrance room hanging from the ceiling how do i get it???

I am stuck at the part when Link (as the wolf) gets to Lake Hylia. I fought the giant bird and flew it through the cavern to get to Zora’s river, but somehow i died and ended up back outside. The spirit outside the house by the dried up lake says that there is some cannon that he can shoot people out of, but I can’t find it. Please help if possible. Thanks!

help please,
i missed the getting the vessel of light to collect the tears. This is the final one. I did talk to Ruetla in zora’s domain asking me to help her son.
I went over fall & even back tracked sever times from castle town but you can’t jump the bridge that caught fire cause the boxes burned up first time.
Please help, I been stuck here for over a week going forward and backward.
There was a empty chair in the spirit cave, is that where she was?
I found a cave that had a boulder & one cave that empty.

I am at the point where you save three monkey but I am stuck I can’t sceem to make anyhting else happen. I saved all three monkeys, one set of bridges has yet to turn so I can cross. I also can’t get the chest that is hanging right when you walk in and kill the spider. Can you help I keep running around to every room doing everything I know how over and over again? thank you

I’m at Death Mountain where I need to kill the insects and I’m on the last one. I’m stuck b/c can’t reach it. The stream is blocking me from crossing the pass to the farthest insect. Help?!

climb
onto the rock ledge to the left side of the gate, and use Midna to jump up to
the top, making sure that they geyser in the side of the cliff is not spewing
out water while you are jumping. From here, Steve, hope this makes sense…..
Head along the path, making sure you
don’t get knocked over by geysers, and then climb up the ramp to the right. Use
Midna to jump up top, then drop into the small pond on the other side. Hunt out
the insect running around here, and collect the Tear (#16). You will
automatically be returned to the light spirit.

This is for Jahson: When you have caught the reek fish you need to switch to wolf form and learn the scent. You need to go up snow peak in wolf form by following the reek fish scent, then you will find the monster at the top.

I can’t seem to defeat the “dragon” at the last fight in the Sky City. After hitting him twice to remove his armor, I think I’m supposed to target the glowing “eye” on his back. But, I can’t get an angle on this and whenever I try to go around the creature, he gets me with firebreath. Any suggestions?

This is going to sound silly, but how do you put the master sword back in the stone at North Faron Woods to open the temple of time dungeon?
One Zelda guide said to press ‘A’, but nothing happens (or Link just puts his sword away or rolls). Do you need the sword in hand or put away? I’ve tried everything.
